Bonhams holds its Modern & Historic Native American Art sale on December 8, bringing to auction approximately 240 lots in both historic and modern American Indian art and artifacts.
Included in the sale is a John Nieto (Mescalero) acrylic painting from 1991, Taos Pueblo Elder, expected to fetch between $12,000 to $18,000, as well as a dynamic 1992 bronze by Chiricahua artist Allan Houser titled Eagle Dancer estimated at $6,000 to $9,000. In addition, a suite of eight drawings by Hopi artist Dennis Numkena titled Mozart’s Magic Flute will be on the auction block (est. $ 7/10,000).

Also offered are bracelets, rings and other adornments in various styles by Hopi artists Charles Loloma and Verma Nequatewa, rich mosaic work by members of the Reano family, and fine examples of lapidary and silversmithing by contemporary Navajo, Zuni and other Native artists. A wide selection of vintage Navajo and Zuni bracelets and necklaces will also be up for bidding.
A Native American art online-only sale will be held toward the end of the year, with dates still to be determined.
