April/May 2022

The April/May issue marks Native American Art magazine’s triumphant return to the world of Native American fashion. This growing and influential category of art is expanding through the art market and is now recognized nationally, and even globally, as Indigenous designers from all around the country are celebrated at major fashion events from New York City to Paris, and beyond. This issue will celebrate contemporary fashion, and the many exciting designers creating in this category, and it will also examine historic Native American fashion and how early designs are still inspiring artists still today. 

The April/May issue will feature our inaugural special section, Region Guide: The Great Plains. This new and exciting section in Native American Art magazine will highlight artists, museums and galleries in this region, which stretches from Texas through the middle of the country into Canada. States include Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Wyoming, Montana, North and South Dakota, Colorado and Iowa. This area is known for a variety of artwork, including beadwork and quillwork. Many different tribes and cultures will be represented, including Blackfeet, Crow, Plains Cree, Mandan, Cheyenne, Arapaho, Kiowa, Osage and many others.
