More than 150 exhibitors and art vendors will participate in the Objects of Art & American Indian/Tribal, opening on August 10 at El Museo Cultural in Santa Fe’s bustling Railyard district. Events kick off with a benefit preview on opening night, followed by three full days of the exhibition, in which collectors and art enthusiasts can browse materials, historic and contemporary, from all around the country.

The show is put on John Morris and Kim Martindale, who are collectors, art dealers and show promoters passionate about Native American art. Objects of Art is one of three shows they are putting on in Santa Fe. The others are Whitehawk Antique Indian & Ethnographic Art Show on August 11 through 14, and Pop Up: Vintage to Contemporary on August 17 through 20.
“For anyone interested in ethnographic and tribal arts, this is where you can see some of the finest material available in the world—about 95 percent of the best exhibitors will be in Santa Fe for these shows,” Martindale says. “Experienced collectors and beginners alike can find real treasures for as low as $25, as well as objects worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.”
Martindale, who has put on dozens of different shows, approaches each one with art collectors in mind. “I like going into each show with the idea that it’s going to be the best show we can make it,” he says. “That’s our goal with each one.”
To make it easy for guests to participate in as many shows as possible, Objects of Art not only has tickets available for all three events, but there will also be a shuttle to get guests from Objects of Art at the Railyard to the nearby Whitehawk show at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center.
