More Than a Magazine

Letter from the Publishers

Welcome to the August/September issue of Native American Art magazine! This issue marks our seventh year as the Official Magazine of Santa Fe Indian Market, a partnership we are proud to continue through 2028 and beyond. It is an honor to represent the largest and most celebrated gathering of Native American artists, collectors and enthusiasts anywhere in the world. The Santa Fe Indian Market has earned an international reputation, drawing visitors of all kinds, including museum curators, gallery owners, art dealers and collectors from around the globe for an unforgettable weekend of art and culture.

Being the Official Magazine is a responsibility we take very seriously. Executive editor Michael Clawson and his team spend months preparing an issue worthy of this iconic event. This edition features 232 pages, most of them dedicated to Santa Fe Indian Market, its artists and partners, as well as many of the exhibitions taking place throughout Santa Fe during August. Moe than 200 artists are showcased inside these pages, giving collectors an opportunity to discover new talent, or to reconnect with their favorite artists, as they learn the stories behind the work. Our mission is to connect these gifted artists with collectors across the United States and around the world. We also work closely with SWAIA to ensure the magazine’s voice reflects the spirit, integrity and excellence of the market itself. We are continually inspired to spotlight the extraordinary artists who make this a one-of-a-kind event.

The Santa Fe Indian Market issue is the largest undertaking of the year for the Native American Art team and it takes months to make a reality. Then comes the finale: seven members of our staff travel to Santa Fe to support the artists, celebrate the market and meet our readers. Stop by our booth on the plaza to pick up your complimentary issue, subscribe to the magazine or simply introduce yourself. We would love to hear about your collection, the artists who inspire you and the discoveries you make throughout the weekend.

Every issue tells a story. This one helps preserve the history of one of the world’s greatest art events. We are honored to document it, and we look forward to seeing you in Santa Fe!
