This year, 2026, marks the 68th year for the annual Heard Museum Guild Indian Fair & Market, held at the Heard Museum in Phoenix, March 6 to 8. The market is the museum and guild’s signature event held each spring to showcase the artistry and innovation of more than 600 juried American Indian artists from across the United States and Canada. It is a collaborative event managed by professional museum staff and the committed volunteers of the Heard Museum Guild, an organization dedicated to supporting the museum’s mission of advancing American Indian art. Last year’s market saw more than 17,000 visitors and we hope this year’s event will equal or exceed that number. We invite you to join us for another stellar opportunity for casual shoppers and serious collectors alike.
The market offers artists who submit their artwork to the juried competition a chance to win thousands of dollars and the distinction of winning a ribbon at one of the nation’s most prestigious American Indian art shows. Some of the best art in the country—jewelry, beadwork, sculpture, weavings, paintings—is judged by respected artists and curators. Join us on Friday evening, March 6, for the Best of Show Reception when the award winners will be announced and when you will be able to meet the artists.
The Youth Art Show & Sale will once again be held during the market weekend in the museum’s Monte Vista Room. This annual event invites American Indian students in grades seven through 12 to submit their artwork to be judged and sold during the market. The show and sale is an unprecedented opportunity for young artists to win ribbons and cash awards and to showcase and sell their art. It has also proven to be a springboard for many students who have gone on to successful careers as artists. The Youth Art Show & Sale may be your chance to discover the next up-and-coming star.
Families are especially welcome to the market, not only to the Youth Art Show & Sale but also to the cultural performances in the museum’s grassy amphitheater and to the Family Fun Zone. On Sunday, March 6, children under 12 will be admitted free of charge. We hope you will bring the family to the market for a unique cultural experience.
The Indian Fair & Market can be many things to many people: an occasion for collectors to buy from favorite artists, an opportunity for casual shoppers to find an interesting piece of art, a place for families to enjoy an afternoon at the beautiful Heard Museum campus surrounded by friendly and welcoming hosts. We hope to see you there. Visit the Heard Museum website for the full schedule of events.
