The 26th annual Great Southwestern Antique Show returns to Albuquerque this August with 95 exhibitors from across the United States and Canada bringing an eclectic mix of predominantly Native American, Western and Southwestern antique objects and art.
Native American offerings comprise about 60 percent of the sale, and will include weavings, pottery, jewelry, basketry, beadwork, paintings and more. Also offered at the sale is tribal and ethnographic art, vintage jewelry, clothing, accessories, fine art, Mexican art, rare books, military items, and assorted historic ephemera.

Dealer Mark Winter will have a Germantown Navajo eyedazzler saddle blanket, circa 1885, available at his booth. Vivid in color and with its dizzying designs, the weaving is a prime example of the eyedazzler style, which was popularized in the second half of the 19th century when Navajo artists began creating textiles for the tourist market.
A 1915 Zuni Frog Jar and an Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial banner from 1945 will be among the wares presented by exhibitor Robert Gallegos; while collectors will find a 1930s Navajo cornstalk pictorial weaving at the booth of Jeff Voracek of Red Mesa Gallery.

“The Great Southwestern Antique Show is proud to be America’s favorite Southwestern antique show,” says show founder Terry Schurmeier, adding that since its inception the show has donated over $500,000 to charities that support the arts. This year, 100 percent of the proceeds from the opening Charity Preview will benefit New Mexico PBS educational and arts programming.
“You can shop for unique treasures, beautiful and rare objects from other countries and cultures…It’s always exciting to see what exhibitors will bring,” continues Schurmeier, “[but] the Great Southwestern Antique Show is not just shopping—it’s fun, educational and entertaining!”

Show attendees browse the eclectic array of antique art and objects at the 2024 show.
The charity preview is from 1 to 6 p.m. on August 1, with an early buyer preview beginning at 11 a.m. The show opens to the public on Saturday, August 2, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sunday, August 3, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. For tickets and additional information visit www.gswevents.com or email info@gswevents.com. —
