“My style seems to go through phases as I experiment with different designs, textures, and materials, and every phase is its own eclectic style,” says artist Benny "BoOm" Gallegos. “I always seem to circle back around, though, being able to merge newer skill sets with earlier ideas, and this is what allows me to innovate. Currently, I’m having a lot of fun working from ingot to produce thicker, heavier pieces that require more of the silversmithing side of the craft, which can be extremely challenging, but also more gratifying when things come together.”

Gallegos adds that his work makes life exciting. “For me, the uncertainty, and sometimes, self-doubt, add to the thrill of the adventure. I create from my spirit and an ethereal, unknowing place, accessing my curiosity and my love for mystery, and opening myself to guidance from my ancestry,” he says. “When I sit down to create a new piece of jewelry, I begin with a vague idea and then continue without a commitment to a specific outcome. I am always inspired by the process of creating and the potential that exists in each piece.” —
