On June 22 and 23, the Eiteljorg Museum in Indianapolis will welcome back Native American artists from all around the country for its 32nd annual Eiteljorg Indian Market and Festival. More than 150 artists will be in attendance offering artwork from all the popular categories—from pottery and weavings to jewelry and paintings, and so much more.

The museum, which is located in the heart of downtown Indianapolis, will feature artist booths inside the museum and on the grounds, where visitors can also view performances, cultural presentations and music. Among the scheduled performers are classical guitarist Gabriel Ayala (Pascua Yaqui); the punk rock band Sihasin, whose members are Diné; storytelling performer Perry Ground (Turtle Clan Member of the Onondaga Nation); and Indigenous Hawaiian music group Hoapili, joined by Indy Hula. There will also be popular food vendors returning as well.

The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art is one of the premier art destinations in the country, and certainly one of the top Native American art museums in the Midwest. In addition to a Western collection on the ground floor, the museum’s second floor is nearly entirely devoted to its Native American collection, which includes both historic and contemporary artwork from tribes and nations all around North America, including the nearby Great Lakes Region. The museum routinely hosts large exhibitions, many curated and organized by Native American scholars.
Roberta Begaye (Navajo (Diné)), Art is Medicine, 2022, mixed media, 36 x 48"
“A cultural pillar for nearly 35 years in downtown Indianapolis’ scenic White River State Park, the Eiteljorg Museum seeks to inspire an appreciation and understanding of the arts, histories and cultures of the Native peoples of North America and the diverse peoples of the American West by telling amazing stories,” organizers note about the museum.

Like many popular art markets, the Eiteljorg Indian Market and Festival will feature a ticketed awards ceremony, which will take place June 22 during the breakfast portion of the first day. Award winners are a mixture of veteran masters and up-and-coming artists, and their careers are given significant bumps after taking home Eiteljorg ribbons.
