Cheyenne designer Nan Blassingame is the mind behind the fashions of Native American Notions. Originally from Hammon, Oklahoma, she currently resides in Cedar Park, Texas, and is a wife and mother.

“I’ve been sewing since age 14 [in] home economics in school. In my 20s my aunt taught me to make my first jingle dress of many,” says Blassingame. “My love for sewing [came from a desire] to make my own jingle dresses.” In 2017, she tried her first outerwear clothing, and a year later entered her first fashion show, the Austin Intercultural Fashion Show in Austin, Texas. Then, in 2019 she showcased her May collection during the iconic New York Fashion Week. Most recently, Blassingame’s designs were shown at the 2022 Austin Fashion Week.

Aside from her focus on family and fashion, Blassingame is also the programs director for the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Great Promise for American Indians based in Austin.
