The Young Ones

The Youth Art Show & Sale returns to the Heard Museum for the 2023 market.

Student art from a past youth art show.

After its successful inaugural roll-out at the 2022 Fair & Market, an exciting component of the 2023 market will be the Youth Art Show & Sale (formerly the Student Art Show & Sale). Combining this event with the fair allows the Heard to bring youth artwork to a much wider audience. The museum invites and encourages American Indian students in grades 7 through 12 to submit their original artwork for display and sale. Students can have their art judged by a professional panel in 13 different categories and two age divisions, as well as compete for ribbons and cash prizes totaling an impressive $10,000. After the judging, all student work will be on display and for sale in the Heard’s Monte Vista Room. A percentage of the sales revenue will help fund the guild’s student art programs, while the balance will be retained by the student artists. The museum is deeply grateful to Betty Van Denburgh for her generosity in sponsoring the Best of Show and Best of Division ribbons for the Youth Art Show & Sale.
