Carvers often talk about a finished work before they even put knife to wood. “It’s in there,” they’ll say as the point into the cottonwood. “I just need to get rid of this extra material.” The wood is not just a medium, but a vessel for the finished artwork. And that mystery in the wood is thrilling to the artists and collectors. We’re very excited to bring you a special section on carvings. This work is exceptional, and the artists are supremely talented. We hope you enjoy our return to the world of Native American carving.
