Strong Line-Up

A series of upcoming exhibitions will take place this summer at Andrea Fisher Fine Pottery in celebration of the art of this robust medium. Throughout July and August, during the heart of the thriving Native American art scene in Santa Fe, New Mexico, collectors can explore new works of art by some of the most talented Indigenous potters working today.Richard Zane Smith (Wyandot), Large cut out Jar, 2022, pigment on clay, 10¼ x 11¼"

Kicking off the month-long series of shows is Acoma Pueblo potter Sandra Victorino on July 14. “Sandra Victorino’s generous spirit is evident with her many, many unique designs which she applies liberally to her Acoma pottery,” says gallery owner Andrea Fisher.

Next up is Santa Domingo artist Thomas Tenorio on July 21. Tenorio creates playful and often simplistic designs into his pieces, incorporating aspects of his Kewa culture. Fisher adds, “Thomas Tenorio’s pottery is a fun-loving extension of his Kewa (Santo Domingo) Pueblo heritage, and those designs are a testament to his fun-loving personality.”

The ornate and intricate designs of Acoma potter Rebecca Lucario will be on display at the gallery beginning July 28. “[Her] attention to detail and precision both dazzles the eye and redefines perfection,” says Fisher. And finally, rounding out the series is the one-of-a-kind, highly textured pottery of Wyandot artist Richard Zane Smith. “Richard’s pots are like a fine dish of pasta,” says Fisher, “thin-thin delicious coils of clay dressed in dazzling colors—buon appetito!”
