All That Glitters

The Santa Fe Art Auction will be offering major historic and contemporary works at a jewelry sale December 11.

Visitors go to Santa Fe, New Mexico, for many reasons, but one that generates considerable attention is all of the jewelry. It is everywhere. In the shops and galleries, in the museums, on jewelers’ blankets around the Santa Fe Plaza, and, on December 11, at the Santa Fe Art Auction.

The auction house will be offering around 30 major historic and contemporary jewelry pieces at a special evening dinner sale. The VIP event will be a more intimate setting so bidders can see the work, savor the atmosphere at the auction house and enjoy a catered dinner with other jewelry collectors.

“Santa Fe is the perfect intersection of jewelry and art, and that epitomizes Santa Fe in so many ways,” says Gillian Blitch, president and CEO of the Santa Fe Art Auction. “This sale will be offering truly amazing works with classic stones, coral, turquoise and vintage silver, as well as cutting-edge silver designs from some of the best jewelry artists working today.”

Lots available include a magnificent Navajo silver set (est. $6/12,000), a Vernon Haskie coral and turquoise bolo tie (est. $5/10,000) and two Gibson Nez pieces, a necklace (est. $4/6,000) and a bolo (est. $5/10,000).

Other artists represented in the sale include Cody Sanderson, Michael Roanhorse, Olin Tsingine, Kenneth Johnson, Tony Abeyta and many others.
